The EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is part of the “Fit for 55 in 2030 package”, and serves as the EU’s strategy for pricing carbon emissions associated with the manufacturing of carbon-intensive products entering the EU. It also aims to promote more environmentally friendly industrial practices in countries outside the EU.

CBAM will apply in its definitive regime starting from 2026, following the current transitional phase that spans from 2023 and 2025.
