Pod is one of the UK’s leading providers of EV charging solutions, trusted by over a quarter of a million customers and powering more than 5 million miles every single day. In 2022, Pod selected Normative to establish its first complete carbon footprint. Drawing on data from across the business, Normative produced a fully auditable scope 1, 2 and 3 inventory. The same dataset now guides Pod’s net‑zero roadmap, strengthens commercial tenders and supports Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) disclosure, embedding credible carbon information across the organisation.

About Pod

Headquartered in London, Pod designs, installs and operates EV charging solutions across homes, workplaces and public spaces. Earlier this year it became the first EV charging company to launch an all-inclusive EV charging subscription, Pod Drive, which significantly reduces the upfront costs of a home charger and provides subscribers with cashback on smart charged miles.

Pod reports under SECR and according to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). Pod has committed to halve scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2026, using 2023 as a baseline, and to reach net‑zero across the value chain by 2050.

Aligning emissions data with evolving business needs

With the baseline established, Pod uses Normative each reporting cycle to deepen and refine its inventory. The platform widens scope 3 coverage and reconciles finance records, removing pass-through revenue that once overstated supplier emissions. This single, dependable dataset now underpins compliance while also delivering product-level insight: life-cycle assessment results flow into Normative and merge with sales data, giving stakeholders a clear view of each charger’s full lifecycle impact.

“We’re grateful for the expert guidance that our partner Normative consistently provides, as we relentlessly pursue our sustainability goals and climate strategy. With their support we can leverage insights from our data to not only inform our operations, but so that we can show customers the real impact of every EV charger.”

Cross-functional engagement

Carbon data reaches teams beyond sustainability at Pod. New hires are educated on where emissions still exist in the business’ footprint, so they can help to reduce them. Sales teams draw on verified figures and LCA results for tenders. Marketing turns the same numbers into clear, accurate messages for a range of audiences.

“Most Pod teams engage with the data to some degree. Whether it’s included in onboarding packs, sales tenders or marketing content, it helps make sustainability part of everyone’s role.”

Laura Porter, Sustainability Manager, Pod.

Looking ahead

With a reliable dataset in place and broader internal engagement under way, Pod is poised to continue their journey of moving from measurement to action. The company will build on its annual inventory, engage key suppliers and track progress toward its 2026 and 2050 goals. Credible carbon data has shifted from a reporting requirement to a strategic asset, positioning Pod as a leader in the UK’s transition to cleaner energy.
