Inbox & Tasks brings distributed collection management directly into your carbon accounting workflow, helping teams collaborate and stay on track without endless email threads or manual follow-ups.
When you log in to Normative, you’ll see a new Inbox in the top navigation. It’s where you can go to keep track of updates on tasks assigned to you, and can act as a resource for project managers to inform those contributing to data collection of what still needs to be done. One click takes you exactly to the place in the platform where you need to act, so nothing gets lost in the shuffle.

See everything in one place
Your homepage now includes a list of all your open tasks across data collection and reporting. Whether you’re uploading data, or managing multiple collections, you can instantly see what’s in progress, what’s completed, and what’s waiting for action, all in one place.
This gives every user a clear view of what to prioritize, while managers get transparency into overall progress and potential bottlenecks.
Create tasks and manage collaboration
Tasks can be created manually by users with Manage access to a collection, typically sustainability leads, or admins. You can assign tasks to colleagues, add instructions, set deadlines, or reassign work as projects evolve.
This structure brings clarity and accountability to your workflow, freeing up time to focus on what matters most, moving from raw data to validated results.

Automate data validation
Some tasks are generated automatically by Normative to assist data contributors in uploading data. If a file upload includes a formatting issue or missing data, the system detects it and creates a task for the contributor. The contributor will be notified in their Inbox, and once corrected, the task is marked as done.
This automation helps teams catch issues early, reduce back-and-forth communication, and set up their inventory quicker.
