Normative’s carbon calculation engine underwent evaluation by TÜV SÜD based on ISO 25051 and the GHG Protocol
Scientific integrity is foundational to how we build at Normative. We believe carbon accounting software must be rigorous, transparent, and accountable, especially as organizations increasingly depend on accurate climate data for strategic decisions and compliance with regulatory standards.
To reinforce this commitment, Normative voluntarily underwent an independent evaluation by TÜV SÜD. The evaluation was based on ISO/IEC 25051 focusing on the general software development process and quality, and the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, including the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard. The voluntary software evaluation helps to identify improvement potential as soon as possible so that we can continuously improve and further develop our software.
TÜV SÜD confirmed that Normative’s software meets their specified evaluation requirements, including:
- Functional suitability, including the completeness, correctness, and appropriateness of core software features.
- Systematic implementation of structured data collection and management processes.
- Calculation methodology, assessed through manual recalculations of representative software outputs.
- Standards alignment, evaluating calculation methodology according to the GHG Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, including the Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard.
- Data transparency, specifically confirming the traceability and plausibility of secondary emission data sources for representative samples.
This voluntary, independent evaluation demonstrates Normative’s proactive commitment to transparency and rigorous climate accounting practices. As Sebastien Blanc, CEO of Normative, states:
Independent evaluation is essential in a world where climate data drives critical decisions. At Normative, scientific integrity is fundamental to how we build, and openness to scrutiny is key to maintaining trust.
Statement Verena Bönisch, evaluator at TÜV SÜD:
Through our independent evaluation, we help software providers to gain greater confidence that the software calculates carbon emissions in a transparent and reliable manner, e.g. according to the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard. Normative, in particular, supports its users by guiding them to align their data input closely to the standard, providing a helpful tool for efficiently obtaining data for the greenhouse gas reporting.
